As I have gotten closer and closer to early adulthood, I have put a lot of thought into my future and what it holds. I knew that I wanted to go to college, but it was hard for me to decide whether I wanted to go to a large state university with a lot of my friends and take the traditional path towards my degree, or to go to a smaller school and peruse running track and Cross Country in college. I decided that not only was running in college an opportunity that I didn't want to pass up, but that going to a smaller school was better for me and my education as well. I have decided to attend Alma College after I get my high school diploma. While I am not sure exactly what career path I want to pursue, I am confident that it will be in the business field.
I am nervous to see what college has in store for me. Throughout high school, my work ethic has been very strong at times, but I also had a tendency to take mental breaks, and only do my homework when it had to be turned in. I am a little worried that these bad habits will create a greater downfall for me than it has during high school, but I am also confident because I have shown myself that I am a very good student when I put the work in; especially when it comes to subjects that I enjoy. I know what I am getting myself into, and I am eager to see how I react.
Interview Questions for Tony Jones
For this assignment, I interviewed my dad, who's career path is similar to the one that I hope to one day embark on. The answers that he gave me to some of my questions were really interesting. I asked what he thought about the social aspects of college, and if the friends that you make there are ones that last. He said that you can't worry about social life in college, and advised me that friends can be found anywhere, but an education can't. Personally, I think that if everyone felt this way that no friendship would ever have true meaning. I like to think that each individual friendship is unique and can't be replaced. He also stated that he has no regrets on not living on campus while he attended Ferris State University. I found this interesting as well because I often hear about how important and life changing the college experience is. My father, however, feels that it is not essential, but it would have been nice to get to know some more people during his time in college.
